It's hard to believe that this year marks the 17th anniversary of Eminem's Slim Shady LP release. Sure, Eminem was being Eminem way before the Slim Shady LP saw the light of day, but this was the first glimpse of things to come over the years. In honor of the album's anniversary, Eminem announced through his Twitter account that his major label debut will be re-released on cassette. Hello, retro. It's left us wondering if the Slim Shady LP still has the same shock value it did in 1999. Biography

Dropping basketball references like the old school but wrapping them in thoroughly modern beats, Post Malone hit in 2015 with his single "White Iverson." Raised in Dallas, Malone was NFL before he was NBA thanks to a father who worked for the Cowboys. He loved music from a young age, and planned on joining a band thanks to the video game Guitar Hero, but when his dad gave him a copy of Terror Squad's hit "Lean Back," Post decided to become an MC. He hung with Dallas crew the IRAS until a move to the West Coast dropped him in Los Angeles. After putting some braids in his hair, he coined the term "White Iverson," and when he posted the track in early 2015, he hit a million views within the month. Biography

A rapper who built an indie empire with his Cocaine City imprint, French Montana was born in Morocco, but emigrated to the U.S. while in his teens. He set up shop in the Bronx and began releasing his Cocaine City series of DVDs in 2002, mixing interviews with established hip-hop artists and unsigned talent. Around 2009, he began releasing his own mixtape CDs with DJs like DJ Drama, Evil Empire, and Big Mike as his hosts. That same year he would be signed to Akon's Konvict Musik label, but in late 2011 it was announced that the two parties had parted ways and that French was signing to both P. Diddy's Bad Boy and Rick Ross' Maybach Music imprints in a unique joint venture. His 2012 single "Pop That" would be the first release for the united labels, while 2013 saw the release of his debut album, Excuse My French. ~ David Jeffries

Revival finds Gomez veering further from the teen cheer of her Disney days toward a sultry club mix she explored on her higher-octane 2013 album, Stars Dance. While joined by an incredible roster of guests—including Hit-Boy (of Kanye West & JAY Z’s “Ni**as in Paris” and Beyoncé’s “XO”) and the legendary Max Martin (who has been turning out hits since the Backstreet Boys were, well, boys)—Gomez takes writing and production credits on nearly every song here, making breakup songs like “Same Old Love” crackle with personal history.
